Talking about Mamogram Tech From Hell

I called the hospital and told them I wanted to make a report on someone in Radiology . I talked to the Head Man about my experience with the "Mamogram Tech From Hell". I described her to him and how I was treated. He apologized for the mistreatment. I told him if she was a student , she should have been supervised. He said if she was the one he was thinking about, she had 20 years experience. He also said she didn’t work as a regular but travelled to different hospitals. I received a letter from the hospital stateing what I had reported and of course an apology. I waited a few days for "Head Man" to call me back, so I called him. He said he talked to her and said the incident was on her records. He couldn’t tell me what their conversation was , (confidentiality). I asked her name. Wouldn’t you know it, her name is VIOLET, my fave color family, purple.  lol Smile

    Mamogram Tech From Hell

Inept Techs doing mamograms should be illegal. Sure, students have to learn but not at our expense. She should have been supervised. Hindsight tells me I should have walked out.But the ‘what if’s’ kept me there and the left one had been done already. The ‘ediot’ forgot the nipple thingy so she had to repeat the left breast. I allowed her to continue and she was so impatient and disrespectful as she kept telling me I wasn’t standing right and wasn’t close enough. Well, I was close enough for her to pinch my left breast while the right one was in this vise.
I simmered for a few days and called the radiology dept.to report her. She told me that all the employees are experienced. I explained to her what happened, date, day, time, description of the young woman. She told me that they had Techs that day. I told her that she should be reprimanded. As I think back, I should talk to someone in a higher postion about this. This should not be allowed without supervision. It’s bad enough with an experienced person. So ladies, before you have this done ask if the person is qualified. I am blessed ’cause I received a letter saying it was normal. I’m most grateful for this. God bless you, my friends, S

Yes mammograms are not pleasant as it is so when you get inexperienced people it doesn\’t make it any easier…the thing is I guess sometimes, there are people in the wrong kind of business…to do jobs like these you need compassion and kindness…I have seen little old ladies being roughed up cause nurses couldn\’t find veins on their arms to get blood and  and took it out on the patient…I was one of the patient but thank God she didn\’t come to me…because I talk, I don\’t let people disrespect me, there is no need for that…life is tough enough…take good care and I hope you have a great week. hug, Pau

I\’m glad you got a good report on your test results.
I think it\’s better to report people like that sometimes.  It\’s probably not the first time she was inconsiderate with someone and probably wouldn\’t have been the last time if you hadn\’t spoken up.  People in those postions need to treat patients with care – after all, it\’s stressful enough as it is having those tests done.
      Have a GREAT week.

Good for you for reporting her.  Too often people just let it go and that\’s how these people continue down the path of rudeness.  Each time they get away with it they become more cocky in their idea of "no one is gonna do anything to me, I\’m safe."  Glad your report was a good one.  Have and good day.

OMG… I am sorry you had to go through such an unpleasant time. Mamograms are quite painful enough without having a disrespectful idiot dealing with you. I had one the other month… and boy, was it painful. Being so thin, it really hurts as they push you in closer to the machine… and I haven\’t much of a boob to squash anyway!

Glad the results were all clear… as were my results.

After putting off for so long,  I went in today and have  the dreaded mammogram.  thank goodness, it was not as painful as my last experience.  In this day and age, one would think someone would invent a machine that would not hurt us so a lot of women like me will go regularly.  Maybe someday…….

    Tea Cakes

I finally made my tea cakes. I added blueberries, raisins, sweetened coconut, cranberries and prunes. They are good and I ate 4 Embarrassedbefore stopping, so habit forming. Sometimes I spread with all natural peanut butter and nuke and that’s a fine cookie, like potato chips, one won’t do. Yall have a nice Thursday with God’s blessings, SidneyRed rose

I don\’t care what anyone says.  A mamogram hurts in the best of circumstances.  I would complain at the top of my lungs if I had to endure that tech.  I am glad that you got a good report!

Hi Sidney,  I would definetly go higher up.  There is no reason what so ever for you to be treated that way.  For her to be doing one breast while pinching the other???????? Hello, obviously this girl did not know what she was doing.  Hopefully she did it right.  A woman is scared when she goes in to do this, well I am, I dont know if they all are, but a woman need kindness and gentleness, not "your standing wrong and youre not close enough.  Ohhh this just  makes me so angry.  But your right, be grateful that you go the "good" letter.  I was thinking of framing mine!! LOL

I agree with you. Prolly wouldn\’t hurt to go to the medical oversight board. You can find it by googling Medical Advisory Board for your state. You can also go here, http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/mammography/ , it\’s the federal regulation of mammography. :-DI am so sorry you had to go through that. They usually put the most qualified and most caring people in there. I\’m sending you Hugs!!

Oh Golly dear I\’m so sorry for that unfortunate event  .I have never had one done  before .I\’m 41 now so I\’m sure I will soon enough . Yes dear someone of a higher authority should know about this . Don\’t feel guilty about it either .You are just saving someone else from the incident of being disrespected . Take Care my dear Love Terry

At this moment I\’m pretty upset for you; do NOT let this slide, Sidney… You were disrespected and mistreated and such conduct from a "technician", not a student, can\’t be tolerated. Take this as far as you need to;  please keep us posted on your progress.

I hope the physical discomfort wasn\’t too lasting.

Again, please don\’t let up until you\’ve gotten the closire you deserve on this travesty.

      Thinking of you,

      Marge

Hi Sidney…happy that your results were good.  Sorry you had to endure the pain and indignity.  I\’m 55 (almost 56) and have never had one done (keep telling my doc I\’ll have one done the day he has his *well I\’m sure you know where I am doing with this* put in a vice).  My mom will be having one done later this month, I will be sure to make sure someone experienced does her….she does not need much more pain inflicted.
I hope you go to the higher ups and keep on complaining.  At the very least you should receive an apology.
      *Hugs*
      Karin
P.S, I promised my mom I would have one done as well, soon…..so I will probably make an appointment the day I take her in.  That should make my doc happy.

First, glad you got a good report back.  Second, don\’t stop with the radiology department….go higher and also put it in writing!   Student techs should not work alone – in my opinion!  Hugs

I\’m glad you were normal, too…I\’ve never had an experience like that, but if I did I would be tempted not to go back…and they should let you know if it is a tech…

Thank GOD that all is clear , I have mine done every twoyears by the same person and she has been very good as she herself has to have it done to her , so she knows what to expect . Take good care of yourself and I would take it as far as you can and yes a letter is a good start , GOOD LUCK   ………………..hj

    • Harmony 6:39 pm on October 3, 2008 Permalink | Reply

I\’m glad you got the allclear on the mammogram, however, definately go to someone higher up to report that person. Mammograms are painful and awkward to start with without having some be rough and disrespectful to boot.
I have to thankyou for posting this as I\’m overdue for one myself, quite overdue in fact.
      Bye for now. hugs. R

Oh my gosh Sidney! I\’m so glad you\’re ok, but i\’m not ok for what they put you through.You\’re my girl, and that makes me feel very sad. I know how you feel, i was treated very badly about 10 years ago, and sadly to say, i haven\’t gone back. I know, stupid on my part. But i have such large breast, that they had to take so many slides, and the women in the office were laughing about it,and talking about it as i was standing there. They had know idea it was me, because i was in another room earlier getting dressed, and i walked out to get checked out and thats when i just stood there, and i was amased that they wanted me to join in on the fun! I just started crying and told them that the one that they were laughing at was me, and thats when they started coming up with all of these excuses. They said sorry it\’s just we\’ve never seen so many slides before, and because i never wanted to go through that again, i have not gone back to have it done to me again. For health reasons my heart doctor is making me get a breast reduction, which i am very happy about…lol Thats if my ins. pays for it, so i\’m praying very hard that, that will come through for me.I use to be a very large woman as well, i\’ve lost 165 lbs so far, and i have 80lbs to go. So making people feel sad, or hurting people\’s feelings in anyway, just ticks me off big time!! I love you Sidney, and i know i\’ve been real busy with Danielle, and the boys, but sweetie, i\’m always here for you, so if you need me to listen at anytime please, give me a kick in the rear…and wake me up!!!
                                                     *HUGS*  Rhonda
